Join us for 4N/5D of travel and photography in Siem Reap: The temples of Angkor will be our life size studio and playground.

Felix Hug and his producer Jamie Boyd have put together a unique trip with a mixture of photography, relaxation and excitement. We will show you World Heritage at its best, like you have not seen it before. You will see and photograph Angkor Wat at sunrise, visit photographer legend John Mc Dermott and his gallery and stay at the fantastic property of the Heritage Suites Hotel. Each room will have its own Tuk Tuk transport, enjoying a maximum of flexibility. For those who dare, we willset up the fantastic experience of a sightseeing helicopter flight to and over the temples.

This workshop is tailored for passionate travelers (min 5, max 14 pax) using any digital camera and who would like to improve their photography, while out and about.

Please bring your camera and your laptop (if you have one) to the workshop. You will receive daily feedback from travel photographer of the year winner Felix Hug.

May 1st: Individual arrival in Siem Reap, official workshop starts with the opening dinner and the outline of our program

May 2nd: Sunrise at Angkor Wat, breakfast at the hotel; critique and postproduction session from the morning; afternoon photography session at Bayon.

Evening dinner and live Jazz in town.

May 3rd: Morning session at Tha Phrom and/or helicopter tour, late breakfast at the hotel.; critique and postproduction session.

Visit the John McDermott Gallery and outing session with John Mc Dermott in the afternoon.

May 4th: Early morning session on the Tonle Sap lake with its floating villages, breakfast at the hotel; afternoon session at Angkor Thom and sunset at Sra Srang.

May 5th: Time for image critique, shopping and individual sightseeing; closing of the Getaway

Join us for an exciting week of travel and photography in Myanmar. Yangon, Bagan and Inle lake will be our life size studios and playgrounds.

We will visit some of the absolute the highlights in this truely amazing country.

Felix Hug and his producer Jamie Boyd put together a unique trip with a mixture of relaxation and excitement. With the help of award-winning photographer Muha,

we have tailored a trip you will remember for a long time. We will stay in 3 different locations, with a completely different atmosphere: Yangon, Bagan and Inle Lake.

This workshop is tailored for passionate travellers using any digital camera and who would like to improve their photography, while out and about.

Please bring your camera (8MP and above preferred) and your laptop (if you have one) to the workshop.

Tentative Program:

Jan 20th: Arrival and overnight stay in Yangon. We will visit the incredible Shwedagon paya.

Jan 21th-23th: Transfer to Heho by plane and then by boat to the Inle Princess resort. We will cruise the lake, visit the morning markets and temples nearby.

Jan 23th-27th: Transfer to the Bagan by plane. We will visit local photographer Mau Mau, explore the temples and take our portraiture like decades ago.

Visit of the Ananda temple festival. Balloons over Bagan optional.

Jan 27th: Transfer back to Yangon for your international connections and flight out of Myanmar.

Join us for five exciting days of travel and photography in Thailand’s north. This colourful region will be our life-size studio and playground.

We will visit an elephant camp, explore the city of Chiang Mai, have an intimate look at muay thai and get blown away by the spectacular Yi Peng festival.

Day 2: Morning shoot at an elephant camp and in the afternoon we visit a tribal village.

Day 4: Morning at the market. Afternoon and evening we will visit the amazing Yi Peng lantern festival.

Day 5: Morning visit of umbrella making and handicrafts. Early afternoon projections of the best images. Departure on 6 PM flight.

You know ISO, color temperature, aperture & shutter speed, but you feel there is still somthing missing in your pictures?

We will show you how to move the technical questions out of your sight and to step up and taking compelling photographs. You will learn how to look at your and others

people captures, realizing what makes the difference between a good and a great picture.

We look at content and compostion, using your individual talent to take better images when traveling. This class is for people who know the basics and like to

July 2nd: Day of cultural and daily life in the neigbouring villages. Afternoon shoot of our own dancers with a chance to practice direction and wireless flashes.

July 3rd We visit some of the local markets and explore the famous Lombok waterfalls.

July 4th: Relaxing, post-production, individual critiques, and personal time at the resort. Departure on 7.25 pm flight.

About the Eyes on Asia Travel Photography Getaways

The Eyes on Asia Getaways are a series of travel photography trips led by Award Winning travel photographer Felix Hug and his producer Jamie Boyd.

Each trip explores personally scouted locations. We enjoy each others company taking images, travel, wine and dine and stay in cosy hotels whenever possible.

While we take our images and photography seriously and try to improve on it, we have our priorities on the experience itself.

Our groups are intentionally small, with max 10-14pax and with more then 6 pax we travel with an additional guest photographer to give you additional advice with a different viewpoint.

Beginners and pros are both welcome.

We produce a coffee table book from each trip and have a photography challenge to win a Canon camera, sponsored by Canon Singapore.

“I know Felix and Jaime, the key members of Eyes on Asia for sometime now. Jaime is great at whatever she does. She makes you feel at home even at the remotest locations with her exceptional organising skills.

Well, when it comes to photography Felix is my Guru. Till now I have done 3 workshops with him. Two of them were Getaways: Siem Reap, Cambodia and Lombok, Indonesia. Both the time my respect for Felix as a teacher and photographer has grown manyfold.

During the trip, Felix was very patient; he would answer all my questions (sometimes most basic and silliest) in depth with theory and practical applications. He does not hesitate in sharing his vast experience as a professional travel photographer. Felix’s method of evaluating the photos on the spot (on LCD screen) is really helpful. I would like to quote Felix here, “Before you leave the scene, check your screen and look at the images. Do not walk away, unless you are certain you have what you came for. There is still time to take some more images, but once you packed up.. only regrets will remain, if you missed out on something”. In moments when you are clueless Felix would click a photo with his camera to show you what he means. This is in particular helpful to understand the same subjects in a new light.

In spite of so many feathers in his cap, Felix does not have any air about himself. On the field he is just like a friend with authority on the subject.

“Just putting an object on the side and having two thirds of space without anything going on, is rather pointless’, Felix told me when I went to a Saturday class of his. Realising that just following rules without really knowing why doesn’t make a lot of sense, but his statement did. So I tried it out and found it not always easy, but it helped me to give my pictures more depth.
Just this statement helped me so much in making my pictures more interesting that I really wanted to go on one of his getaways.
And believe me, I didn’t regret it. Everything was so well organisied by Jamie that we just could lean back and enjoy taking pictures, discussing different apertures and shutter speeds and comparing the results. Sometimes you realised even though you’ve been at the same spot, your pictures looked completely different.
It was a great environment to improve my photographic skills and I felt so at home with Jamie, Felix and James. It was just great. A big thank you to all of you.”

In a half day class,Award Winning Travel Photographer Felix Hug and his Producer Jamie Boyd will show you what travel photography is all about.

Everybody has at least one camera in our days, but most of us are overwhelmed with the uncountable options they offer. The intro class explains in simple terms and

with image samples the very basics to focus on. It will help you to understand what happens during the process of your image taking and why the images did not look

the way you thought they would. Felix will explain the most important technical elements in todays Photography: ISO, Color Temperature, Aperture & Shutterspeed.

The class does not aim to make you a camera technician, but will simply explain you how to use this elements to your advantage. You will improve on

your image taking and avoid making the same mistakes. In addition you will learn a few tips & tricks on how to improve on your travel imagery.

The classes are small, so that evryones problems will have space to be addressed accordingly.
